On the one hand the film deals with problems in a marriage between two people of different ethnic background and the clash of their cultures especially the subjugation of the women in the pakistani society as opposed to the britsh one. The difficulties for their children which arise from those problems are also discussed. All this is combined with great humour which makes it more interresting and also worth to watch for children and adolescents. On the other hand it treats the topic "violence in families" and how the children might cope with it. The whole story is crowned with grandious actors. To sum it up this is a very good film with humour but also sad moments which I can only recommend for everyone.

Wir mussten das Buch als Lektüre für die Schule lesen und mir hat das Buch leider überhaupt nicht gefallen. Es ist zwar nur 156 Seiten lang, aber es zieht sich wie Kaugummi und auch das Thema des Buches gefiel mir nicht besonders...
